Flying H Stables
Owner / Manager
Kent Hersman's earliest memories are on a farm in West Virginia learning about horses and farm operations. While riding was enjoyed, David Hersman, Kent's dad, chose to teach Kent how to mend fences, medicate livestock, raise foals, and train horses. At age 12, Kent studied from the original Beery School of Horsemanship books to apply equine psychology to problem horses.
At 18, Kent joined the military and pursued and enjoyed another passion as as an Army Aviator. During the military service, Kent completed an MBA; all the while, the family enjoyed breeding and raising several nice thoroughbreds, including the 2007 Kentucky Derby contender, Storm in May.
In 2012, once retired from military service, Kent and Tracy decided to start Flying H Stables. In 2017, Iliad, another colt they started, ended up on the Derby trail. The true intent of the farm is to continue a good thing and share successes with like-minded folks who are passionate about doing the right things for the horses we cherish 24/7.right!!
Owner / Broodmare Manager
Tracy Hersman was challenged at an early age with an optic glioma and told by doctors her eye must be removed. Her father and mother’s prayers were answered when marked improvement was shown and over a six month period, the eye went from 20/200 to 20/15 vision and the tumor disappeared.
As a young adult Tracy attended nursing school as she empathized with children that were overcome by terminal illness. Today, she is a mother of three and the Flying H Stables broodmare manager that ensure daily care and emergency measures are in place, all the time. The pictured foal is another success story of a life Tracy is directly responsible for saving.
Autumn Hersman was the first to sit on Storm in May's back. At only three years old, she was intrigued by the thoroughbreds and her passion for the industry has grown over the past fifteen years.
As Autumn progressed through high school she often worked on the farm assisting, hands-on, with the horses and sales prep. She excels in every facet of management, along with coordination of the veterinary work and the breeding operations.
Autumn is currently pursuing a degree in Business and Entrepreneurship with Indiana Wesleyan University. Be assured that in Autumn's hands your horse is not only cared for, but loved.
